Khiva

As any other orient city Khiva has a modern part and an ancient part. An exotic image of an Oriental ancient city reveals itself in the older part of the city called Ichan-Kala. Ichan-Kala is a place where all the monuments of architecture are situated.

Ichan-Qala is the picturesque 2.5 km long walls of the 18th century. It has four entrances to the old city of Khiva: West, North, East and South gates. The West Gate is the main entrance. Their local name is Ota Darvoza (Father Gate).

The age of this magnificent outdoor museum is about 2.000 years old. And here you can find a lot of ancient and medieval madrassahs, mosques and minarets. Khiva can praise itself with such architectural masterpieces as Islam-Khodja minaret, Kalta-Minor minaret Pakhlavan Makhmud mausoleum, Muhammad Aminkhan madrassah, Kunia-Arki Jash Hauli Palace Ensemble, Allahkulikhana caravanserai, Juma Mosque and others.
